How deep is the procurement process for LED full-color large screens? Experts will teach you how to read the door

Have you ever struggled with this matter? The shopping mall wanted to build a cool outdoor viewing wall, but when I went to find a manufacturer, I found that the screen was full of "lifetime warranty" and "manufacturer direct sales." However, after three months of installation, it turned into "rainbow strips." I have a real case here: last year, a P5 large screen purchased by a chain restaurant had 16 module color differences within three days of opening, which delayed the Golden Week activities and directly caused a loss of 150,000 in sales. In fact, finding a reliable supplier is like looking for a partner. You have to keep your eyes open and look at the details.

First understand how deadly lamp beads are. . The most outrageous thing I saw last month was that a manufacturer sold second-hand lamp beads as new products, and the lamp failure rate soared to 5% after one month of installation. Three key parameters have to be pinched:

How deep is the procurement process for LED full-color large screens? Experts will teach you how to read the door
  1. Brightness attenuation value (not exceeding 3% per year)
  2. Refresh frequency (at least 1920Hz to shoot video without flickering)
  3. Mixed bin level (color accuracy of ΔE≤3 will not irritate the eyes)
Let’s take a real situation: the car display screen of a certain 4S store was distorted in color due to different batches of lamp beads, and the customer almost had to return the product.

Cabinet material can kill people . I went to inspect the factory last week, and happened to encounter a quarrel between two suppliers - one of them blew his own cabinet to last ten years, but the paint peeled off with just a scratch with a screwdriver on site. The difference between aviation-grade aluminum-magnesium alloy and ordinary iron sheet is like the contrast between stainless steel basin and plastic basin. Focus on these three places:
√ Accuracy of seams (everyone knows that the tempered film for mobile phones must be bubble-free, right? )
√ Heat sink thickness (starting at 1.2mm to withstand summer exposure)
√ Quick-release structure (don’t wait until you find you have to tear down half the wall when removing the screen)

When it comes to installation and debugging, there is a lot of knowledge here. I just dealt with a strange thing a few days ago: the large interactive screen installed by a customer at a ski resort went black when the temperature was low. Later it was discovered that the driver IC was not cold-resistant and would stop cooking at minus 10 degrees Celsius. Now I’ll teach you three tips:

  • The outdoor screen temperature range is at least -30℃ to 60℃℃
  • Power supply redundancy requires double backup (just like a mobile phone with a power bank)
  • Do not skimp on lightning protection measures (ground resistance should be <4Ω)

Maintenance costs are the easiest to miscalculate . Many buyers feel that they have made money by "winning the low price", but as a result, the maintenance fee is higher than the purchase price. The stage screen of a theater last year is a living example: it saved 80,000 yuan in purchase fees, but spent 220,000 yuan on maintenance in two years. There are three main hidden costs::
① Annual brightness calibration (like mobile phone screen color adjustment after long-term use)
② Spare parts storage fee (5% of the total amount of commonly used modules)
③ Software upgrade fee (control system costs almost 3% of the budget every year)

Suddenly I remembered an important parameter - gray scale level. You really need to look at this with a magnifying glass. Last week, I came across a cheap screen bought by a customer. When playing dark movies, it turned into dark dramas. Professional-level products must achieve 16-bit processing, so that when viewing the screen in the evening, the sunset glow can still be displayed. If the supplier can't even tell you this parameter, replace it as soon as possible.

Recently, a new method is popular in the industry - intelligent photosensitivity and brightness adjustment. Listen to me, this function is really not just a showpiece! After installing an automatic brightness adjustment system on the screen in the mall atrium, the monthly electricity bill was saved by 38%. The principle is actually similar to the automatic brightness of mobile phones, but the technical content is several levels higher. It depends on whether the manufacturer has its own encoding and decoding technology.

The speed of after-sales response can scare people to death . Once I received a call from a customer in the middle of the night saying that the bar stage screen went black half an hour before it started. Fortunately, the supplier chosen at that time had a 24-hour standby team. The engineer took a taxi across the city with spare parts to rescue, and the last-minute repair was successful. Now the rules must be written clearly in black and white:
→ Arrival within 4 hours in urban areas
→ Remote guidance is processed first
→ Key spare parts are carried with the vehicle

Finally, here’s the bottom line: A factory that really dares to take international orders must have an aging test area in the workshop. The rental screens we helped select for a music festival last year were tested continuously for 72 hours before leaving the factory. Those manufacturers who say "just do random inspections" are probably playing a game of probability. Next time you inspect the factory, don’t just look at the showroom, focus on inspecting the workshop to ensure that the original appearance is revealed.
