Last week, a mall just changed three power boards. The repairman took it apart and saw it - good guy, the power box is almost baked into a microwave! Today I will talk about this fatal power installation problem for you.

​​Three major death restriction zones in power location​​

1. ​​High temperature zone​ ​: Never install it with a radiator. In one case, the power supply temperature soared to 85℃, and the driver chip was directly burned.
2. ​​Humid area​ ​: At least three walls should be separated from the bathroom. Friends in the south pay special attention to the return of tide during the rainy season.
3. ​​Vibration zone​ ​: It is absolutely not possible next to the elevator shaft, as vibration will cause the terminals to loosen

Here is a tip: use a temperature measuring gun to measure the temperature at the installation point. If it exceeds 40℃, you have to change the place!

​​Golden ratio of power supply configuration​​
The power per square meter of ordinary LED screen is between 300-500 watts, the key point is——​ ​30% margin must be left in the actual configuration​ ​! For example:

• The total power of 10㎡ screen is 5,000 watts
• The total power supply is 6500 watts
• Install in 3 power boxes (don't squeeze them all together)

The most outrageous case I have ever seen: Two power boxes are installed on a 20㎡ screen, but they trip every day in summer!

​​Devil details to pay attention to in wiring​​
• The neutral wire of the live wire must be distinguished by different colors (red and blue are recommended)
• Don't save the grounding wire! There is a construction site cutting corners and directly breaking the control card on thunderstorms
• The power cord should be penetrated with a metal hose, especially the location where the power cord is run.

Here is a way to teach you: pull it hard twice after wiring, and if you pull it loosely, you will quickly reconnect!

​​How to choose a heat dissipation solution?​​
There is a big difference between passive heat dissipation and active heat dissipation:

There is an exhibition hall that saves money and uses natural heat dissipation. As a result, the screen was black on the opening day - the heat sink was deformed!

​​Don't be ruthless in lightning protection measures​​
The power supply box must be equipped with three-level lightning protection:

1. Level 1: Installing surge protectors in the main gate
2. Level 2: Lightning protection module is installed on the distribution box
3. Level 3: Install varistor at the power input terminal

During the typhoon season last year, 23 screens in coastal cities went on strike due to insufficient lightning protection, causing heavy losses!

​​Daily maintenance list​​
• Check whether the terminals are oxidized on the 1st of each month (sand the blackened part with sandpaper)
• Clean the dust of the fin every quarter (the thickness of the accumulated dust exceeds 2mm and you have to wash it)
• Test the insulation resistance before the rainy season every year (change the wire immediately after the value is less than 10MΩ)

Here is an inside story: 40% of power failures are caused by failure to clean the dust on time!

​​Can the power supply be installed in the open air? ​ ​
This depends on the specific situation:

• The protection level must reach IP65 (note that you need to see the test report)
• Rainproof cover should be installed (tilt angle ≥15°)
• There cannot be any trees covering the surrounding area

There was a high-speed billboard that suffered this loss. The rain flowed down the branches into the power box, and the short circuit burned the entire screen!
