In which corner is the LED screen model hidden?

Alas, to be honest, have you ever seen a large screen that can transform magic in the mall and suddenly wondered what model this thing is? Last week, my cousin made a joke as soon as he entered the industry. He took a screwdriver to dismantle the display screen to find the model, but the security guard invited him to have tea. Let’s talk about this today, and you will definitely understand more than the master after reading it.

/// Physical location ///
Remember this sentence first: the model is like the ID number on the display screen . Generally hidden in three places:

In which corner is the LED screen model hidden?
  1. Metal nameplate on the back of the power box (most common location)
  2. Laser printing on the receiving card (removing the back cover to see)
  3. Device information in the system settings (press five menu keys to call it out)

To give a real case, when a screen was changed in a shopping mall in Tokyo last year, the repairman searched for half an hour but couldn't find the model. Later I found out that the manufacturer put the nameplate in the groove on the side of the box and covered it with a layer of dustproof film - do you think this design is annoying?

/// Digital metaphysics ///
The alphanumeric numbers in the model are not random, look at this "NS-P4-1920O":

  • NS stands for product series (you know)
  • P4 finger pixel spacing 4mm
  • 1920 is the refresh rate value
  • O represents outdoor special type

If you see a model with a "X" ending, such as the NS-P3-3840X, this is usually a custom version. I have a cold knowledge: the LED floor tile screen model of a certain e-sports hall is XX at the end, and later I found out that it is the dual control system version.

/// Technical parameter comparison ///
Model and performance are like the relationship between instant noodles and seasoning bags, and must be used in conjunction:

  • The brightness 4000nit starts with an outdoor screen (note the ending letter O)
  • Supports at least 3840Hz refresh rate with HDR
  • Pixel spacing ≤2mm is definitely a high-end product

Last year, the transparent screen of a department store in Seoul failed. The maintenance staff judged that this was a model with a 86% transparency through the "T86" in the model. They brought the accessories directly to the door, saving three days of investigation time.

/// Special circumstances handling ///
Sometimes you encounter strange situations, such as:

  1. The nameplate wear of the old model (can measure the pixel size and push backwards)
  2. Customized models do not have standard models (find a technical white paper to find a manufacturer)
  3. Second-hand equipment has been modified parameters (use color calculator to measure real data)

I know a master, and you can guess the model by just touching the LED light bead arrangement. This craft has been practiced for a whole decade. But we ordinary people are still honest and remember this mantra: "Look at the nameplate, check the system, and ask the manufacturer."

Next time you see a large screen playing naked 3D advertisements in the mall, you might as well get closer and find the location of the power box. If you see a model code like NS-P4, it means that this may be a commercial flagship model with a pixel spacing of 4mm. Of course, when you really can't handle it, it's most reliable to contact the manufacturer's technical guy directly - I heard that some manufacturers provide 24-hour online guidance, and even the number of screw torques during installation can tell you.
