Where to look at the size of LED large screen? Three major misunderstandings and actual test techniques reveal

2025-05-18 40

Do you always think that the size of the LED large screen is like Schrödinger's cat - you will never know the real size without unpacking it? Last week, I saw a guy from the advertising company measuring the diagonal line with a tape measure against the screen, but he also counted the border and made a big joke. Today, let’s take a look at the tricks that will not be explicitly stated in this industry!

1.Common measurement misunderstanding rankings

Stop using the mobile phone distance measurement app!I skipped eight hundred times when I saw these pitfalls:

LED大屏尺寸哪里看?三大误区和实测技巧揭秘
  1. Diagonal Trap:
Measure the diagonal of the screen and divide it by 2.54? wrong!
The actual display area of the LED screen is 5-8cm smaller than that of the case
Correct way: disassemble the border to measure the lamp bead area

  2. Model scheming:
Do you think P4 is a 4mm spacing? A big mistake!
P4 actual point spacing = 4.8mm (industry general calculation method)
Real size = number of modules × single module size

  3. Power estimation deviation:
Someone calculates power consumption based on the screen area
Actual power consumption = number of lamp beads × single power consumption (0.2W-0.5W)
    Take a look at a chestnut: 10㎡ P4 screen ≈ 120,000 lamp beads × 0.3W=36kW

II.Professional review tips

Remember this mantra: "Three views, two calculations and one actual measurement"

  1. Look at module encoding:
The sticker on the back of the box hides key information
    For example, NS-P4-320×160 means:

    • P4 point spacing (4.8mm)
    • Single module size 32cm×16cm
  2. Calculate pixel density:
Pixel points per square meter = 1,000,000÷(point spacing mm²)
    P4 screen density = 1,000,000÷(4.8×4.8) = 43,402 points/㎡

  3. Actually measured grayscale calibration:
Use professional test maps to detect effective display areas
Focus on whether there are dark areas in the surrounding borders (exceeding 2cm is an abnormality)

III.Practical case analysis

The fenced screen made for Tokyo Stadium last year is a typical example:

  • Customer requirements: Total length 38 meters, height 1.2 meters
  • Practical Plan:
    ① Single module size: 400mm×200mm
② Number of horizontal modules: 38m÷0.4m=95 groups
③ Number of vertical modules: 1.2m÷0.2m=6 groups
  • Final size:
    95×0.4m=38m (length)
    6×0.2m=1.2m (height)
    Tolerance is controlled within ±3mm

IV.Special tips for beginners

Don't be fooled by the parameter table! These three hidden details need to be checked:

  1. The proportion of heat dissipation zones:
The area of the high-quality screen heat dissipation hole is ≥15% (the box temperature is ≤45℃)
  2. Spline seam accuracy:
The gap between adjacent modules is ≤0.5mm (A4 paper cannot be inserted)
  3. Brightness attenuation value:
Brightness attenuation should be ≤10% after 5000 hours of use

Editor's opinion

I have to say that many manufacturers now play sizes into numbers. The most outrageous case I have ever seen - a nominal 100-inch screen with an actual display area of only 92 inches! So remember:It is better to look at the number of lamp beads than to look at the size, and it is better to check the parameters than to check the uniformity of grayscale. The next time you purchase, you will bring a pixel density calculation formula, so that the suppliers will not dare to make random quotes!
