Standing in front of the LED scrolling screen, holding the USB drive that saved the video in my hand, I circled the machine three times but couldn't find the socket - anyone who was on this matter would have to stomp their feet in a hurry, right? Don’t panic, today we will break this "century problem" and break it up and talk to it!

1. Finding an interface is like playing hide and seek? The most important thing is to understand the rules first

​​Taking the key points​: There are traces to the USB port of the LED scrolling screen, which are mainly hidden in three places:

1. ​​Control box side​​: 80% of models will concentrate the interface here, like a metal box the size of a matchbox, usually with a "USB" label
2. ​​Screen bottom grooves​​: Especially for outdoor advertising screens, the designer is afraid of the interface being exposed to rain and will hide behind the waterproof cover.
3. ​​Near the remote control receiver​​: Some manufacturers want to make it convenient, and they directly combine the USB port and the signal receiver.

To give a real example, like the fence screen we made for the Tokyo Stadium, we designed the interface on the inside of the column. The installation master said that this location is both rainproof and does not affect the beauty, and the venue maintenance staff can also use it easily.

2. There is a way behind "anti-human design"

It’s not that the manufacturer deliberately makes things difficult for others. Some special models really need to be careful to find:

• ​Transparent LED screen​: The interface may be hidden in the side aluminum alloy frame, so the protective cover must be opened
• ​Floor tiles screen​: The USB port is usually concentrated at the edge splicing, and find modules with green indicator lights
• ​Arc screen​: Focus on checking the control unit at the splicing corner, most of them are there

Last week, a Korean customer called and said that he couldn't find the interface. Our technical guy video guided him to touch the upper right corner of the back of the screen - as a result, he felt a hidden mouth with a rubber plug next to the heat dissipation hole! This design is mainly for waterproofing and dustproofing. Remember to restore the plug when using it.

Three and five tricks to teach you how to position quickly

1. ​Follow the power cord to find​: The control box is generally no more than 30 cm away from the power supply interface

4. ​Check the device tags​: Manufacturers usually paste the "USB" or "△" symbol next to the interface

4. It’s not just to just plug in the USB flash drive.

Finding an interface is only the first step. These precautions can help you avoid detours:

• ​​Don't hot-swappable when powered on​​: At the least, the crash will be severe, the chip will be burned, and the screen will be completely powered off before operating
• ​​Note the USB drive format​: Most LED screens only recognize FAT32 format, and NTFS format will fail to recognize
• ​​Don't use Chinese file naming​: Especially for export models, it is recommended to use the format "AD_001"
• ​​The capacity should not exceed 32G​: Old controllers may not support large-capacity USB drives
• ​Regularly clean the interface​​: Use a cotton swab to dip it in alcohol to wipe it. The most difficult thing to deal with poor contact is the most difficult thing

We have a Tokyo customer who was very funny and insisted on playing 4K videos with a 256G USB flash drive, but the machine refused to recognize him. Later, it was replaced with a 16G ordinary disk and it was done immediately! So, it is more important to be suitable than advanced.

5. I've stepped on these "pits" for you

I have been in this industry for more than ten years and have seen too many strange situations. There was a helping to install screens in Singapore shopping malls, and the customer sprinkled the milk tea into the interface, but the entire control box was sticky. Finally, I took it apart and cleaned it with ultrasonic wave before I rescued it. So, daily maintenance cannot be sloppy!

Let me reveal another industry secret: like our LED screen, we have provided three layers of protection for the interface before leaving the factory - anti-oxidation coating, waterproof rubber ring, and self-repair coating. But no matter how good the design is, it cannot withstand violent use. The most ruthless customer who has ever seen poke the interface with a key, and he has forced all the pins to bend...

If you ask me, finding a USB flash drive interface is like falling in love - you have to understand the other person's mind. Nowadays, LED screens are getting thinner and thinner. Designers need to consider both beauty and function, and they will inevitably hide the interface more concealed. But just remember the mantra of "find the control box first, then touch the edge", and keep it safe next time you find the interface as fast as an old driver!
