How to prevent the LED screen from being hacked? 3-step encryption saves 50% time

2026-03-10 79

Have any of you bosses ever encountered such a bad thing? Did you come to the store in the morning and find that the content on the advertising screen has been tampered with, or that a strange picture suddenly popped up on the display at the event? Today I will teach you a trick - put a "digital lock" on the LED screen control card! This is much more important than setting a password for your mobile phone. After all, an advertising screen can easily cost hundreds of thousands!

How to prevent the LED screen from being hacked? 3-step encryption saves 50% time

1. Where is the control card password hidden?

Let’s start with a real case: Last year during the anniversary celebration of a shopping mall, the large screen was remotely tampered with promotional information by a competitor in the middle of the night, resulting in a direct loss of more than 2 million! Later it was found out that it was because The control card has no password . Now follow me to find out these three places where passwords are hidden:

➤ Hardware operation interface
Take out the control card and take a closer look. 90% of the devices have a [System Settings] button in the lower right corner. Don't rush to adjust the parameters after pressing in. Scroll down two pages and you will surely find the password setting bar with a lock icon. Remember to connect the debugging line first, otherwise the menu will be gray!

➤ Computer control software
Open your commonly used control software and find the gear-like [Advanced Settings] in "Device Management". There is a pitfall to pay attention to here - the location of different versions of the software may be different. Focus on looking for the tab with the words "Security" or "Permission Management".

➤ Mobile APP remote entrance
Nowadays, the new smart card control card is very convenient. You can use the APP to operate it by scanning the code. Swipe up on the "Device Information" page, and there is a folding menu of [Security Center]. Not only can you set a password here, but you can also view the last 10 login records.

2. Three major minefields in password setting

Last week, I helped a restaurant chain troubleshoot and found that the passwords for all 20 of their branches were "123456"! How is this different from not setting a password? Highlights for you:

  • Don’t use simple number combinations : Birthdays and last phone numbers are all acts of seeking death.
  • Differentiated permission passwords : Operation password (daily use) and management password (core settings) should be separated
  • Don’t be lazy when changing it regularly. : It is recommended to cooperate with the equipment maintenance cycle and replace it every three months.

There is a trick - write the store number backwards and add a special symbol. For example, the 8th branch can set "8#dianfen", which is easy to remember and difficult to crack.

3. Divine operation after encryption

Setting a good password is just the beginning, these hidden functions are really cool:

  • Scheduled screen lock : Set to automatically lock during non-business hours. No one can touch it from 1 am to 6 am.
  • Operation log tracking : Who changed what setting at what time can be clearly seen in the background.
  • Multi-level permission management : Maintenance personnel can only adjust the brightness, and the core parameters must be unlocked by the boss’s fingerprint.

A certain supermarket chain relied on this method to cut the maintenance cost of 300 screens across the country by 40%. Maintenance workers can no longer secretly change the playback time to defraud labor hours. All operations must be recorded with a password.

4. What should I do if I lose my password?

Don't panic yet! The control card has an emergency mechanism:

  1. Automatically locked if entered incorrectly 5 times in a row
  2. Press and hold the reset button on the control card for 15 seconds to restore the initial password
  3. Contact the manufacturer to remotely unlock (remember to have the device serial number ready)

However, I would like to remind you that restoring factory settings will clear all program content. It is best to back up the material package in a USB flash drive in advance, or save it to the cloud. The most aggressive customer I have ever seen stored all the commercials accumulated over ten years in the control card. As a result, I forgot the password and formatted it all...

Having been in the display industry for more than ten years, I have seen too many cases where small things lead to big losses. Last year’s industry statistics showed that Unencrypted LED screens are 23 times more likely to be attacked ! Don’t think that the contents of your own screen are worthless. Hackers love to use these devices as a springboard to attack the entire network. Spending 10 minutes setting up a password is worth a firewall worth 100,000 yuan. It’s a good deal no matter how you calculate it, right?
