What will happen if the LED screen speaker is installed in the wrong location?

2025-10-20 71

Recently, a friend who owns a milk tea shop asked me: "The LED screen speaker I just bought was installed in the wrong position, and all the customers took a detour. How can a novice avoid this pitfall?" " This is really not unusual - after all, the streets are now full of display screens that can sing and light up, but how well they are installed directly determines whether you can rely on them "How to quickly gain fans as a novice". Today I will talk about this from the bottom of my heart.

What will happen if the LED screen speaker is installed in the wrong location?

(Pause here for two seconds) Let me tell you a real story: Last year, a convenience store chain installed an LED advertising screen with a speaker right above the cashier. As a result, the clerk had to shout "Welcome" at the top of his lungs every day. Why? The screen is too high and the sound floats to the ceiling! So, where to install this thing is not as simple as finding an empty wall.

Here comes the point: 3 things you must know before installation

  1. What is your main use for this screen? Is it to broadcast advertisements, engage in interaction, or serve as a background wall?
  2. Are there any "acoustic killers" in the surrounding environment? For example, metal decorative panels and large-area glass windows
  3. Should people stand and watch or sit and watch? A difference of half a meter in eye level will have a completely different effect.

Take the front desk of a common milk tea shop as an example. The most suitable position is actually 1.2-1.5 meters above the ground - this height will not be blocked by the operating table and the sound can be transmitted flatly to the ears of customers. If it is installed at a height of more than 2 meters, it will be like holding the phone above your head to play music. It will always feel boring when listening.

(Insert thinking tone here) Some bosses may want to ask: "What if I install it in an outdoor square?" " This matter needs to be discussed separately. Outdoor screens are most afraid of two things: direct sunlight and echo interference. Last year, a scenic spot installed an LED music screen by the lake. During the day, the reflection was so severe that it was difficult to see the picture. At night, the sound was reflected by the water surface, making it look like a three-dimensional surround sound effect. In the end, the sound had to be turned off in the middle of the night. So, remember this set of numbers for outdoor installation:

  • Screen tilt angle >15° (avoid direct sunlight at noon)
  • Distance from the nearest reflective surface (such as glass curtain wall) > 8 meters
  • The speaker is oriented at an angle of 30° to the main channel

Speaking of which, a new trend must be mentioned - many stores now like to embed displays in glass windows. This installation method pays attention to "transparency without leakage", which not only ensures 86% transparency without affecting the lighting in the store, but also allows the sound to evenly cover the area 3-5 meters in front of the store. Here’s a little tip: hide the bass unit at the bottom of the display cabinet, and install the mid-range and high-pitched units on both sides of the screen frame. This will not affect the appearance, but the sound can be sent out along the glass.

The 5 most common pitfalls for newbies

  1. Install the control panel and display screen on the same wall (vibration will cause the screen to jitter)
  2. Install it against the wall in a long and narrow space (echo allows you to hear your own echo)
  3. The speaker is hung higher than the screen (it looks like it has a horn)
  4. The outdoor screen is installed facing west (the picture fades in the afternoon and looks like an expired poster)
  5. The floor tile screen does not undergo moisture-proof treatment (it directly turns into a fountain during the rainy season)

Recently, I helped a friend renovate a gym locker room. They originally installed an LED screen with instructional videos opposite the shower area, but every time I took a shower, I felt like the coach was staring at me in the mist, which was very awkward. Later, it was changed to just above the dressing bench, which is 2 meters away from the ground and tilted 15°. Now members can watch fitness instructions while changing clothes, and the usage rate has doubled.

Some attentive friends may have discovered: Why are the LED screens in some shopping malls installed very high, but the effect is very good? This involves a professional concept called "sound field coverage angle". Giant screens like those that open up the hall usually adopt a "speaker matrix" layout - three sets of directional speakers are hung on each side of the main screen, spreading sound to different areas like petals. However, the sound pressure level must be calculated in advance for the installation of this kind of professional project. Ordinary small shops do not need to make it so complicated.

Finally, a practical tip: Don’t be in a hurry to accept the installation after installation. Download a decibel test APP on your mobile phone (pause here), walk through it several times from different angles, and see if the area with the clearest sound is where you want people to stay. The owner of a clothing store complained to me that the display screen in his store was always crowded with adults and aunties using the air conditioner, and serious customers could not squeeze in. Later, he adjusted the direction of the speakers by 15°, and the problem was solved. So, I have a lot of knowledge about the installation location, but don’t think that just hiring an electrician to hang it on the wall is all it takes.
